8 schools to compete for the best road safety model Having competed at the District level about eight schools from across the province will compete for the best designed road safety model during the Provincial Participatory Road Safety Education Techniques (PET) project. The project is a flagship programme which aims at changing learner’s attitude towards road safety. This is to encourage learners to be aware of road safety challenges in their community as well as to enhance learners’ presentation skills by ways of presentation sessions. Eight teams will be provided with resource materials for building the models that they will use to conduct oral and display presentations. Learners will be adjudicated on these models (displays) and presentations illustrating their community road safety problems and researched solutions. They are expected to implement their solutions emanated from their findings. The objective of the competition is to: The best team will be presented with awards and will represent the province at the National level to be hosted by Road Traffic Management Corporation in September in the Bloemfontein – Free State.
